OUR STORY

The name 3EIGHTH, is derived from 3/8" (three eighths of an inch), also used as an allowance for garment pattern drafting.

Established in November, 2018 as a female-fronted and women’s focused tailoring house, we’ve now created that allowance for ourselves to offer our perspective and twist on menswear tailoring not just for custom commissions, but also through our made-to-order collections too.

Every 3EIGHTH piece is meant to journey you through an exploration of fabrics, quality and comfort. We aim to create a deeper appreciation on the craft of garment making - from the process of material curation and detailings, down to its silhouette.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

3EIGHTH is an ode to juxtaposition. Taking cues from our founder designer’s roots in classic menswear tailoring, we love experimenting with materials and hybridising designs through a balance in the masculine and feminine, the bold and subtle, the contemporary and classic, and a touch of uniqueness, even in the face of uniformity.

Taking a sustainable approach with a small tight-knit production in-house, we ensure that your garments are made with the utmost care and quality, and want them to be treasured for the many years to come.

FOUNDER & DESIGNER, SHERYL YEO

Starting out in fashion as a part-time retail assistant and marketing intern in 2010 to independent store, Rockstar by Soon Lee (now defunct), Sheryl went on to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Marketing) with RMIT University (Melbourne) and took her first official marketing role as a Marketing Manager for menswear label in 2014.

She took a career change in 2016, and completed her certification in Fashion Design with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), and started her apprenticeship in classic menswear tailoring with esteemed tailoring house, The Prestigious (Singapore).

She embarked on her own journey, opening doors to 3EIGHTH in November, 2018. What first started as an angry quest to put women in suits, has now evolved into a brand new Ikigai for the label, with a deeper appreciation for the details and materials that go into crafting garments.
