A NEW ARC…

“WHERE TWO ENDS OF THE SPECTRUM MEET.

OF FEMINIMITY IN THE MASCULINE,

OF SOFTNESS TO THE BOLD,

TRANSCENDING DAY AND NIGHT.

THIS IS OUR ARC ON DAILY WEAR.”

“ARC” is 3EIGHTH’s first ever ready-to-wear collection, and it embodies my love and exploration for menswear, tailoring details and looser silhouettes. It is an expression of balance between two spectrums - the juxtaposition between the feminine and masculine, and that they can all co-exist as one. “ARC” serves as an ode to my personal relationship with clothing, and a vision of what I’ve always believed in, seeking a femininity in the masculine. And it feels almost like a paradox, or a juxtaposition, but again, it’s the release the tomboy in me has always sought.

This collection embodies explores my love for, and origins in menswear, tailoring and sartorial details, as well as looser silhouettes, adapting it into interchangeable styles for both women and men alike. I’d say it has a more grounded interpretation on colours, as we reimagine it for everyone's day-to-day. I wanted the clothes to have a long-term sensibility, firstly by making sure the pieces allowed for unrestricted movement, but still retain a touch of fun through colour, as we always enjoy them, and a more interesting fabric curation.

We are featuring two limited edition fabrics this launch - a Sashiko (Japanese embroidery/ stitching style) woven fabric from one of my recent trips to Japan, and a Denim with a bronze Pinstripe from Korea which is just the subtle touch we wanted to elevate the look of a typical denim. Those pieces will be made on a limited run basis.

Apart from the usual shirt offerings, we are also adding our first ever skirt, dress and jumpsuit styles to the mix. As a nod to embracing my femininity, we’ve created the “Duo Skirt”, a two-way piece, and the “Trench Dress” for those who’d like a fuss-free dress, complete with pockets, or have it styled as a tunic too. The “Trench Jumpsuit” is also my take on a dungaree, but a slightly cleaner finish that can be dressed up or down with. It features a tie sash to toggle around different silhouettes. The pieces of the “ARC” collection may be styled together, separately, with or without a base layer. And really, it’s our way of letting you have your way too, and I can’t wait to see how you’ll style all of these pieces.

The launch of “ARC” will mark several firsts for us; the first of 2024, our first ever ready-to-wear format available for immediate purchase, and our first time debuting at Boutique Fairs, building a full set to bring you a truly 3EIGHTH experience. It’s definitely surreal to think we’d be here, five and half years on into our journey, and not without each and everyone of you who’ve made it thus far reading our little heartfelt sharing.

And to wrap up all of this and weave all the feelings I have stored in my body while preparing this collection, I’ve put together a little playlist that hopefully encapsulates most of it. I’d like to also take this moment to highlight the presence of one of my all-time favourite artistes, Bjork, and some of her tracks in this playlist. Her music and art embodies the spirit of the work I constantly pursue, and the track “Venus as a Boy” takes a special place in my heart. Also, a special mention to Kin Leonn, whose track “flowers… dripping” feels like an apt opening to this new arc in our journey. Give it a go, I sincerely hope you’d enjoy this rundown as much as I do x
